Terms of Membership
Last updated 14 September 2026
For Digital and In-Person Members.
1. About the Membership
The Obsera Membership is a women-first community connected to the development of Obsera and the work of The Observatory.
Obsera is currently at an early stage of development. Becoming a Member means joining this work at an early stage and helping us learn how Obsera should develop.
The Membership is not a medical service and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment or individual medical advice. Information, conversations, insights and experiences provided through Obsera are intended for educational, research and general understanding purposes and should not replace advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
2. Membership options
Founding Digital Membership, designed to allow Members to participate wherever they are. Founding benefits are expected to include:
- early access to Obsera during its early development;
- monthly insights and virtual conversations;
- preferential rates for selected classes and stays at River Arts Club;
- an invitation to the Annual Members' Celebration in October;
- opportunities to participate in the development of Obsera; and
- the opportunity to introduce or gift a Membership to a mission-aligned friend, subject to availability and any applicable terms.
The first 100 eligible Founding Digital Members will also be invited to one of a limited series of Founding Observatory Days at River Arts Club, including a nutritional lunch. Dates, availability and booking arrangements will be communicated separately.
In person studio membership, provides a closer connection with The Observatory at River Arts Club and may include access to selected in-person conversations, workshops, classes, experiences and events alongside digital Membership benefits. Specific inclusions will be shown clearly when you join.
3. Early development status
Obsera is evolving. During the founding period, features, technology, content, research activities and elements of the Membership experience may change as we learn from Members and develop the programme.
We may add, adapt or discontinue individual features where reasonably necessary. We will not make changes that materially reduce a paid Membership without giving affected Members reasonable notice and, where appropriate, an option to cancel.
We do not guarantee that every feature offered during early development will become part of the final Obsera product.
4. Fees and minimum commitment
The price applicable to your Membership will be displayed clearly before you purchase.
Founding Digital Membership: £25 per month, with a six-month minimum commitment. In person studio membership: £200 per year plus VAT (£240 including VAT), or £250 per year plus VAT paid in 12 monthly instalments of £25 including VAT. In person studio membership has a 12-month commitment. Active Club members may add digital access as a separate subscription for £10 per month with a one-month minimum.
Your applicable minimum commitment begins on the date your paid Membership starts.
During the applicable minimum period, monthly membership payments will continue to be due even if you choose not to use some or all of your Membership benefits, subject always to your statutory rights and the provisions of our Cancellation & Refunds Policy.
The minimum commitment is part of the Membership. Obsera is designed to help build a better understanding of women's health, capacity and lived experience over time. Participation over a meaningful period supports the longitudinal nature of this work.
The minimum contractual commitment does not override any separate rights you may have in relation to your personal information, health data or participation in optional research.
5. Payment, renewal and cancellation
Membership fees are charged monthly using the payment method provided when you join.
The minimum term and renewal schedule depend on the membership chosen: six months then monthly renewal for standalone Digital; 12 months with annual renewal for Club; one month then monthly renewal for the digital add-on.
You may give notice to cancel at any time by emailing hello@riverartsobservatory.com.
If you give notice during your applicable minimum commitment, your cancellation will take effect at the end of the applicable minimum term and payments due during the minimum term will continue to be payable.
If you give notice after your minimum commitment has ended, your cancellation will take effect before the next applicable renewal payment, in accordance with the payment arrangements communicated when you joined.
There is no additional cancellation fee. Full details are set out in our Cancellation & Refunds Policy.
We will not introduce a new recurring charge or materially change your Membership price without providing appropriate notice.
6. Membership benefits
Benefits are personal to the Member unless we expressly state that they may be transferred or gifted.
Some benefits are subject to availability, advance booking, venue capacity, specified dates, separate eligibility requirements or additional charges.
Preferential rates do not guarantee availability.
7. Events and Observatory Days
Places at events, classes, workshops and Founding Observatory Days may be limited.
Receiving an invitation does not necessarily guarantee a place unless your booking has been confirmed.
Separate booking and cancellation conditions may apply to individual events and will be communicated when booking.
8. Participation in research
Being an Obsera Member may provide opportunities to contribute to research, surveys and Observatory projects.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, Membership does not require participation in a particular research study.
Where separate consent is required for research, you will be given appropriate information and the opportunity to decide whether you wish to participate.
Declining or withdrawing from an optional research activity will not automatically cancel your Membership.
Your rights in relation to your personal information and any consent you provide for the processing of health or other special category information are separate from your contractual commitment to the Membership.
Further information about how we use personal information is available in our Privacy Notice.
9. Health and participation
You are responsible for deciding whether a physical class, experience or activity is appropriate for you.
You should tell the relevant practitioner about injuries, pregnancy, health conditions or other information that may affect your safe participation where appropriate.
If you have concerns about whether an activity is suitable for you, you should seek appropriate medical advice before participating.
10. Behaviour and community
We want the Membership to be a respectful, thoughtful environment.
We may suspend or terminate membership where a Member behaves in a way that is abusive, discriminatory, threatening, seriously disruptive or puts another person at risk.
Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to resolve the issue before terminating membership.
11. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, content provided through Obsera, including written material, methodologies, digital content, recordings, designs and resources, belongs to us or our licensors.
Members may use Membership content for their own personal, non-commercial use but may not reproduce, sell, publish or commercially exploit it without permission.
12. Availability
We will take reasonable steps to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to digital systems, events or individual Membership features.
We may temporarily suspend services for maintenance, safety, technical or operational reasons.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
14. Ending membership
You can give notice to cancel your Membership in accordance with Section 5 and our Cancellation & Refunds Policy.
We may end the Membership programme or a particular membership product. If we do so, we will provide reasonable notice wherever possible and refund any prepaid fees relating to a period of membership we will no longer provide, where applicable.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Obsera develops or where required by law.
If a change materially affects your membership, we will tell you in advance where reasonably possible.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in these Terms deprives a consumer of any mandatory rights they have under applicable consumer law.
