River Arts Observatory is an independent female-first membership and technology organisation developing a longitudinal research programme. Our physical home is at River Arts Club on the Thames, where digital observation, voluntary participation and thoughtful conversation can come together in one place.

Angelika Imber
Founder, River Arts Observatory
Angelika Imber brings 18 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry alongside training as a therapist, with academic work spanning medical ethics, human flourishing, sleep research and neurobiology. She holds a Master’s degree in Medical Ethics from Imperial College London and is currently undertaking postgraduate study in sleep research and neurobiology.

River Arts Observatory brings together nearly two decades in pharmaceuticals, medical ethics, education, psychotherapy, sleep research and yoga therapy with one simple belief: women deserve evidence that takes in the full context of their lives.
Why I built River Arts Observatory
For years I saw women offered more advice, sleep more, exercise differently, meditate, take supplements, while the wider context of their lives remained under-observed.
I realised the missing element was not another programme, but a better way to notice patterns over time and create autonomy. So instead of building another wellness company, I began building an Observatory. The Observatory exists to build independent scientific, ethical and technological foundations that future generations of women, and the systems that support them, can build upon.
The physical Observatory
Based at the River Arts Club, Maidenhead.
River Arts Observatory is physically based at River Arts Club beside the River Thames. Our work takes place in a real-world setting for voluntary participation, observation, gatherings and longitudinal learning. River Arts Club provides the physical setting and hospitality; River Arts Observatory provides the programme, technology, learning framework and governance.

Advisory community, independent by design
Our advisory community is in formation. Named appointments will be published once roles and public wording are confirmed. Advisers are selected for relevant expertise, independence and declared conflicts of interest.
