Cancellation & Refunds Policy
Last updated 14 September 2026
For Digital and In person studio membership memberships.
Your membership commitment
Standalone Digital membership has a six-month minimum. In person studio membership is an annual commitment, including when paid monthly. The £10 digital add-on has a one-month minimum and requires active In person studio membership.
The minimum commitment is part of the Membership. The work of Obsera is designed to build a better understanding of women's health, capacity and lived experience over time. Participation over a meaningful period supports the longitudinal nature of this work.
Your minimum Membership commitment is a contractual membership commitment. It does not affect any separate rights you may have in relation to your personal information or your ability to withdraw from optional research or withdraw consent where our processing of your information relies upon consent.
Cancelling your Membership
You may give notice to cancel your Membership at any time by emailing hello@riverartsobservatory.com.
If you cancel during your applicable minimum commitment, your cancellation will take effect at the end of your applicable minimum term.
Monthly payments due during your applicable minimum commitment will continue to be payable, subject to your statutory rights and the provisions below.
Digital membership renews monthly after its minimum term. In person studio membership renews annually, using the payment schedule selected when joining, unless cancelled at the end of the applicable commitment.
If you cancel after your minimum commitment has ended, your cancellation will take effect before your next applicable renewal payment, provided your request is received in accordance with the payment arrangements communicated when you joined.
There is no additional cancellation fee.
Cooling-off rights
Where you purchase a Membership online, by telephone or otherwise at a distance, you may have statutory cancellation rights.
Where a statutory cooling-off period applies, we will honour those rights.
If you expressly ask us to begin providing a service during a statutory cancellation period, the amount refundable may in some circumstances take account of services already supplied, where permitted by law and where the necessary information and agreement have been obtained.
Your statutory rights are not affected by this policy.
Founding Membership
If a Founding Membership is offered with a particular founding price, that price applies subject to the terms communicated when you join.
Cancelling a Founding Membership may mean losing your Founding Member pricing or status. If you later rejoin, we cannot guarantee that the same rate or benefits will still be available.
Refunds
Fees already paid are normally non-refundable once the relevant membership period has begun, except:
- where you exercise an applicable statutory cancellation right;
- where we have charged you incorrectly;
- where we cancel a paid service or material benefit and an appropriate refund is due;
- where required by consumer law; or
- where we agree otherwise at our discretion.
Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights where a service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill or does not otherwise comply with applicable consumer law.
Events and Observatory Days
Events, classes, stays and experiences may have their own cancellation terms. These will be displayed when you book.
If we cancel an event for which you have made an additional payment, we will offer an appropriate alternative or refund the amount paid for that event where applicable.
Preferential-rate bookings
Cancellation of your Membership does not necessarily cancel separate bookings you have made with River Arts Club or another provider.
Those bookings remain subject to the cancellation conditions applicable when they were made.
How refunds are made
Where a refund is due, it will normally be returned to the original payment method.
We will process refunds within 30 days, although your bank or payment provider may take additional time to credit the funds.
Changes to your circumstances
We recognise that circumstances change.
If exceptional circumstances mean you cannot use your Membership, contact us at hello@riverartsobservatory.com. We will consider reasonable requests on an individual basis, although this does not guarantee that we will agree to end the minimum commitment or provide a refund.
