The Female Data Gap in Everyday Life

What we don't measure, we cannot understand, and women have been measured least of all.

River Arts Observatory · May 2026

A commentary on where everyday female experience goes unrecorded, and why that absence shapes the support women receive.

The data gap is not only clinical. It lives in the ordinary texture of a day: caregiving load, interrupted sleep, cognitive demand, the environments women move through. These are rarely captured, and so rarely understood.

Closing the gap begins with observing everyday life respectfully, with consent, and without reducing a person to a score.

Research commentary setting out the Observatory's interpretation of an evolving field.
